Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that it is a historic opportunity for the courts and the whole nation is eyeing towards them for justice in the high treason case against a former army chief.
Bilawal expressed these views while talking to media persons after meeting with his father Asif Ali Zardari at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) here on Monday.
"We understand that it is historic opportunity at this time for the courts and the whole nation is looking towards the Special Court which is announcing its reserved verdict in the high treason case on November 28. The courts have given judgments so far against the elected prime ministers. I hope the judgment of the court about a dictator would strengthen democratic system in the country," he said
He claimed, "The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is trying to protect an absconder dictator. It is a test case for the courts and I hope that the courts would succeed in it. The decision on this trial will give the message which has been said by the Chief Justice of Pakistan that the courts only gave the decisions on the cases of civil prime ministers so far."
Answering a question, he said that the amnesty schemes are only for the relief of the rich people.
Bilawal claimed that the cases against Zardari are false, adding that the Supreme Court will decide where the cases would be heard. He said, "We expect justice from the court."
