In a crackdown against profiteers, the Price Control Magistrates on Tuesday raided 8585 shops and registered 114 cases were against the violators.
"The Magistrates had received 1480 complaints relating to overcharging and during the raids 93 persons were arrested on the spot while an amount of Rs 3.125 million was collected in the shape of fines," said a spokesman of Punjab Trade and Industries Department.
The Magistrates are regularly conducting raids for the monitoring of prices of essential items in the whole of the province.
