A meeting presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan over situation arising out of objections raised by the Supreme Court on re-appointment/extension of the Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has finalized a new draft proposal after addressing all objections.
The hours-long meeting at Prime Minister's Office was also attended by the Army Chief. The approval of the proposal would be taken from the federal cabinet through circulation of summary, according to reports.
Soon after the court adjourned the hearing of the COAS appointment case, Prime Minister Khan convened an emergency consultative meeting of legal and key cabinet members to discuss the objection raised by the apex court on re-appointment of Qamar Javed Bajwa.
The Chief of Army Staff held a one-on-one meeting with the Prime Minister after reaching the Prime Minister's Office, according to reports. Later, the Prime Minister held a meeting with his legal team which was also attended by General Bajwa. The meeting was briefed by the legal team with regard to points raised by the Supreme Court during proceedings in the extension/reappointment case of the COAS.
The meeting was also attended by some members of cabinet as well as legal team including Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP), former Law Minister Farogh Naseem, secretary law and Babar Awan.
Source said that Prime Minister was kept informed about the developments taking place in the court and he held discussions with senior party leaders during the day. Soon after the court adjourned the case for next day, the Prime Minister held an emergency meeting.
The meeting also reportedly discussed the situation arising out of objection raised by Pakistan Bar Council on the licence of Farogh Naseem.
