The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has informed the Accountability Court hearing the multibillion rupees fake bank accounts case that it has finalized supplementary reference in the illegal allotment of a welfare plot case that will be filed before it following the approval of the competent authority.
During the hearing, Prosecutor NAB Sohail Arif told Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir that the Bureau has prepared supplementary reference in the illegal plot allotment case.
The reference will be filed before the court following the approval of Chairman NAB Justice Javed Iqbal (retd), he further said and sought some time from the court for this purpose.
The court after hearing the arguments of the NAB prosecutor ordered the NAB to file the supplementary reference till December 16.
The court directed the NAB to submit complete report about an accused Younus Kidwai, who is also a close aide of former president Asif Ali Zardari and has been declared a proclaimed offender by the same court due to his continuous absence from the court.
Eight accused including Abdul Ghani, an official of Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Matanat Ali Khan, former metropolitan commissioner KMC, Sami-ud-Din Siddiqui, former metropolitan commissioner KMC, Najam-Uz-Zaman, former director Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Wing KMC, Syed Khalid Zafar Hashmi, additional director KDA Wing KMC, Syed Jamil Ahmed, assistant director KDA Wing KMC, Abdul Rasheed, assistant director KDA Wing KMC, and Muhammad Hussain Syed, former administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), appeared before the court.
According to the NAB, the accused persons by misusing their authority allegedly allotted the government land at Nehr-e-Khayyam Karachi to the M/S Friends Associates which incurred a loss of Rs 3 billion to the national exchequer. The accused used fake accounts for payment.
