Work on the dualization of Ataturk Avenue (Embassy Road) is still pending, causing traffic jams and inconvenience to commuters.
CDA missed several deadlines for the completion of Ataturk Avenue which is one of the most important arteries in the capital city. It not only provides access to Diplomatic Enclave and Pak Secretariat but also to the Parliament House and the Red Zone area.
Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials said that work is in the final stage and that work on drains and other allied work on the avenue is completed while compaction is in its final stages and wearing course on the road is to be carried out soon.
Base and sub-base work on a section of the avenue from Fazal-e-Haq Road to the National Database Regulatory Authority (NADRA) Chowk is also in progress. This is expected to be completed soon.
Directions have been issued that work on the wearing course be carried out immediately so that the road becomes functional, CDA official said.
ICT Administration has been directed to coordinate with the concerned formation to ensure and facilitate mobility and deployment of construction machinery at the site, despite traffic and other issues, so that work on wearing course maybe completed within the next two days.
In line with the directions, the contractor has been facilitated by the ICT administration and Islamabad Police for deployment of machinery at the site.
