Educating girls is a key to build economy and overcoming social problems as Pakistan's future is bleak without girl's education, said Dr Maryam Noman chairperson Women Resource Centre of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). She expressed these views at launching the Entrepreneurship Development project ceremony by Baidarie, a local NGO on Saturday.
She further said that although there had been some achievements but still much needed to done in this regards. Dr Maryam further said that it is high time the government should set a side maximum fund for the promotion of education in the country. There is a great need of lunching a vigorous campaigns at gross roots level in rural areas particularly to improve access and address the barriers to education for girls, she said.
The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) had established a Women Resource Centre for extending guidance and cooperation to the women in starting their independent business. At present, there were over 200 business women registered with the Chamber and they were doing their business successfully and SCCI was encouraging the women entrepreneurship aimed at bringing them in mainstream she said.
