The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi filed on Tuesday a reference in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) case against former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former finance minister Miftah Ismail.
During the hearing today, the accountability watchdog submitted the reference in which it stated that one company received benefits of over Rs21 billion between March 2015 and September this year. The reference added that the national exchequer will suffer a loss of Rs47 billion by 2029 because of the contract.
Former Pakistan State Oil managing director Sheikh Imranul Haq played a key role in the deal, the reference further said. NAB has also filed reference against former Ogra chairman Saeed Ahmed Khan and Ogra chairperson Uzma Adil Khan among others, local media reported.
The accountability court has extended the judicial remand of Abbasi and Ismail in the case till December 16. Following the hearing, Abbasi said that this is political engineering. The Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leader Abbasi was arrested by NAB on July 18 in the LNG case.
