The Karachi Port handled 123,208 tonnes of cargo comprising 85,886 tonnes of import cargo and 37,322 tonnes of export cargo including 3,522 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 85,886 tonnes comprised of 26,731 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,126 tonnes of DPA; 6,777 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 47,252 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 37,322 tonnes comprised of 19,122 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,200 tonnes of clinker and 1,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,522 containers comprising of 2,346 containers import and 1,176 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 384 of 20's and 747 of 40's loaded while 56 of 20's and 206 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 428 of 20's and 373 40's loaded containers while nil of 20's and 01 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Diyala, Kota Nilam and Oriental Freesia carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. Botany Bay, Kota Kamil, CMA CGM Racine, YM Excellence, Sea Harvest and Slaoman Dispatcher carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 43,105 tonnes includes 8,114 tonnes of LPG; 1,215 tonnes of palm kernel; 8,364 tonnes of palm oil; 4,032 tonnes of soyabean; 4,470 tonnes of coal and 16,910 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 10,260 tonnes includes 10,260 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,430 containers comprising of 890 containers import and 540 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There was one ship namely Sirocco carrying soyabean sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two ships namely Conti Cortesia and Umm Al-Amad carrying containers and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of five ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, coal, LNG, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as five vessels viz. MSC Asya, MSC Nessina, Weihe, Erasmos and Nordic Geneva carrying containers, soyabean, coal and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were seven ships viz. MSC Asya, MSC Nessina, Maersk Kensington, Erasmos, Weihe, Ginga Tiger and Nordic Geneva carrying containers, coal, soyabean, chemical and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There was one ship namely Maersk Kensington carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday, while another ship namely X-Press Bardsey carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
