(Karachi) Peshawar police claimed to have arrested five alleged militants, including a woman and seized explosive material from their possession, media reported on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference, SP City Mohammad Shoaib Khan said that on a tip-off, the police carried out a search operation in Haji Camp Ada. He added during the operation, the police managed to nab five militants and confiscated arms and explosives from the custody of the accused.

He maintained that the militants were planning to carry out terrorist activity in Lahore and Peshawar. The SP highlighted that the gang had planned to use the woman for their nefarious designs.

Shoaib Khan mentioned that the search operation was conducted after the police received secret information that some terrorists were planning to target sensitive installations in Peshawar and Lahore.

He said the militants have been shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigations.
