The Karachi Port handled 91,092 tonnes of cargo comprising 45,893 tonnes of import cargo and 45,199 tonnes of export cargo including 4,992 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 45,893 tonnes comprised of 29,889 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,261 tonnes of bulk cargo; 2,719 tonnes of DPA; 560 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 3,540 tonnes of palm kernel and 6,978 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 45,199 tonnes comprised of 28,699 tonnes of containerised cargo; 16,500 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,992 containers comprising of 2,225 containers import and 2,767 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 603 of 20's and 801 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 10 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 769 of 20's and 557 of 40's loaded containers while 164 of 20's and 360 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely KMTC Mumbai, YM Excellence, JBU Opal and Bristol Trader carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Navios Unison, Ipsea Colossus, African Halcyon and BBC Diamond carrying containers, fertilizer, palm kernel and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 105,573 tonnes includes 10,940 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,819 tonnes of palm kernel; 9,256 tonnes of palm oil; 5,900 tonnes of soyabean; 44,925 tonnes of coal; 14,000 tonnes of chemical; 1,571 tonnes of project cargo and 15,162 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 43,054 tonnes includes 43,054 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,064 containers comprising of 798 containers import and 2,266 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely MSC Asya and Maersk Kensington carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely Gulf Mist and Stena Imperative carrying chemical and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, soyabean, coal, chemical, LNG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven vessels viz. X-Press Bardsey, Teno, SBI Hydra, Adriana Rose, Gas Chem Adriatic, Al-Daayan and Nordic Adristan carrying containers, coal, canola, chemical, LNG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six ships viz. X-Press Bardsey, Teno, Hansa America, SBI Hydra, Gas Chem Adriatic and Al-Daayan carrying containers, coal, chemical and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There was one ship namely Hansa America carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely Cosco Japan carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
