The ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ trailer dropped on Sunday and there is lots of excitement among the fans as Gal Gadot's character meets her lost love Steve Trevor [Chris Pine] in the new film.

The follow-up to 2017’s Wonder Woman is set 40 years later and puts Gadot's Diana Prince in the conflict of the Cold War. Having lost many of her friends over the years, she's in a dark place. The trailer also shows a new villain in the form of Kristen Wiig's Barbara Minerva, an archaeologist who by way of a lost city and an ancient ritual ends up channeling an ancient goddess known as Cheetah.

The trailer shows the return of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Diana's long-lost love who sacrificed himself in the first film. However, there’s no clue about how does he come back from that.

Director Patty Jenkins has recently revealed that ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ will be a great love story, which may be why Pine is back reprising his role.

Warner Bros. hasn’t released too many details about the sequel, but the studio did offer this one-line summary of what fans should expect. “Diana Prince comes into conflict with the Soviet Union during the Cold War in the 1980s and finds a formidable foe by the name of the Cheetah.”

The movie will hit theaters on June 5, 2020.
