Husnain, a six-year old kid who suffered multiple vicious bites from several stray dogs in Larkana, died on Wednesday at the Jinnah Hospital Karachi after infection weakened his 'immune system' to further survive, the Sindh Health Minister said.
Director National Institute of Child Health (NICH) Dr Jamal Raza has confirmed the death of Hasnain. "Husnain has passed away after fighting massive infections for two weeks," Dr Raza told reporters.
Dr Jamal Raza said Husnain was admitted for 27 days and had necrotising fasciitis. In her condolence message, Sindh Minister for Health Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho sympathised with family of Husnain.
"We tried our best to provide quality treatment but unfortunately due to the infection spreading and Hasnain's immune system being weak he couldn't survive," she said.
She prayed to the almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to his family to bear this irreparable loss.
She said Sindh Government is working towards neutering and vaccinating dogs and we are hoping that once that is done dog bite cases will reduce.
Later, Husnain's funeral was held in Larkana.
