Declaring the attack on the students of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) as a pre-planned move, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Senator Sirajul Haq Friday urged the government to arrest those involved in the killing of Islami Jamiat Talba (IJT) leader and all others who hatched the conspiracy to create unrest and anarchy in the institution.
Addressing the students gathering after leading the funeral prayer of IJT leader Syed Tufailur Rahman at IIUI here, Haq held the university management equally responsible for the attack, questioning who allowed the attackers to enter the university with weapons.
Three JI workers were killed in a broad daylight in Muredki a few days ago and now the miscreants took life of the young student, he said, adding the incidents were the proof of the government's complete failure to protect the lives of the people. A law of jungle was prevailing in the biggest province of the country, he added.
Siraj rejected the statement of the local police official who termed the incident a result of a clash between two student organisations. He said the police and university administration were intentionally trying to hide the facts.
He said the miscreants attacked the peaceful exhibition and a large number of the students were eyewitness to it. An ethnic group which was active in the IIUI under patronage of university administration was involved in the act of violence, he added.
Siraj, however, urged the IJT members to exercise restraint and be patient. He also warned the government not to test the patience of the students and put the criminals behind bar. He regretted that educational institutions and hospitals were under attack and rulers were acting as silent spectators.
Meanwhile, JI leaders Sirajul Haq, Ameerul Azim, Liaqat Baloch, Dr Farid Paracha, Professor Ibrahim, Asadullah Bhutto, Rashid Naseem, Asadullah Bhutto, Mirajul Huda Siddiqui and others expressed grief over the demise of the mother of JI Naib Emir Abdul Ghaffar Aziz.
