Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has directed that all the ongoing developmental projects especially the schemes related to roads communication, higher educational institutions and other basic facilities for district Kohat should be completed on priority.
Gumbat area of district Kohat would soon get a status of Tehsil for which a summary has already been approved that would also be tabled in the upcoming meeting of PDWP.
He issued these directives while talking to a delegation of representatives from district Kohat led by Minister of State Shehryar Khan Afridi that called on him at Chief Minister's House Peshawar.
The meeting was also attended by Senator Shibli Faraz, ex KP Minister for law Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi, members of Provincial Assembly from district Kohat, SMBR, Deputy Commissioner Kohat, administrative secretaries of concerned departments and other higher authorities.
The Chief Minister on this occasion, directed the quarters concerned to release the proposed funds for widening of roads of main bazaar of district Kohat in order to curb blockage of vehicular traffic in bazaar along with directing immediate initiation of work on the construction of Shakardara to Karappa road saying that he would personally inaugurate the construction work formally very soon.
The Chief Minister was briefed about the progress made so far on developmental projects and other issues being faced by general public in district Kohat including widening of roads in order to overcome the issue of vehicular traffic in main bazaar of Kohat for which Rs 60 million has already been approved for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of shops which are going to be affected.
The Chief Minister was also briefed about the establishment of campuses of UET and Comsat University along with establishment of State Life Building. Mahmood Khan directed Deputy Commissioner Kohat to identify land for these projects so that the construction work could be started without any delay.
He also directed agriculture department to finalise the schemes regarding construction of small dams and check dams in District Kohat indicating that the proposed schemes would be included in next Annual Development Programme.
He stated that construction of these dams have prime importance for agriculture development in the district. He further directed to ensure pragmatic steps for upgradation of Tanda Dam where the proposal of establishing a resort of international standard is also on the cards in order to promote tourism in the area.
While talking about the health facilities in district Kohat, the Chief Minister stated that provincial Minister for Health along with other relevant authorities will soon visit the district Kohat for resolving issues related to healthcare facilities in the district.
On this occasion, Senator Shibili Faraz revealed that a bill regarding establishment of High Court Bench in District Kohat is also under discussion in Senate that would hopefully be finalised very soon.
