Following a special court's verdict in handing out death penalty to former president general (retd) Pervez Musharraf, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the government will review in detail the court's decision.
Speaking to the local media on Tuesday, the SAPM said that the government will review today's judgement as well as yesterday's in detail. She further said that legal experts will analyse all legal and political aspects as well as the impact on national interests.
She said after the assessment the government will issue its statement to the media. Awan added that the PM, who is in Geneva, will return tomorrow and he will himself look at the relevant ground realities and legal framework.
Before the special court was set to announce its verdict, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government had filed a petition requesting the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to restrain the special court from passing final judgement in the trial.
In November 27, the IHC had barred the special court from announcing its verdict. The special court, however, noted that it was not bound to obey the high court's order.
