  • It expressed serious concerns over the crisis Indian-occupied Kashmir.

China expressed serious concern over the deteriorating situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK) at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting which was convened on its request.

China raised the IoK issue at the closed session of the UNSC in New York. This was the second meeting since a similar one was convened on China's request when India revoked the special status granted to IoK in August.

In light of the letter sent to the UNSC by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the Chinese side said that Pakistan had called upon the  council to take note of the crisis across the Line of Control which constitute threat to peace and security.

Chinese hoped the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan will provide detailed briefing to the council on the situation along the LoC as soon as possible, local media reported.
