‘Bombshell’ actress Charlize Theron has recently talked about how her mother killed her father in self defense and what impact that incident had left on her. She also said that she is not ashamed to talk about it.
The 44-year-old actress grew up in an unhealthy environment which saw her mother kill her father in an act of self-defense, and she has now said she is not ashamed to talk about the harrowing incident, because she wants to raise awareness for domestic violence.
During a candid conversation with National Public Radio, Charlize opened up about the incident, as she explained that she was 15 when her alcoholic father had fired three shots at Charlize and her mother, and whilst neither of them were hit by the bullets, but her mother acted in self-defence to ‘end the threat’.
"My mom and I were in my bedroom leaning against the door, because he was trying to push through the door so both of us were leaning against the door from the inside to have him not be able to push through. He took a step back and just shot through the door three times. None of those bullets ever hit us, which is just a miracle,” she said.
But after her father fired his weapon, Charlize said her mother ended the threat in self-defense by shooting her father.
Charlize is one of the most critically acclaimed actresses known for portraying strong female orientated roles. She was recently seen in a hit film ‘Bombshell’ and will now reprise her role as Cipher in an upcoming ‘Fast and Furious 9’.
