Chairman Pak Sarzameen Party(PSP) Syed Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday outrightly rejected the special court's verdict awarding death sentence to former president General Pervez Musharraf (retd), saying due legal and constitutional formalities were not fulfilled in the process.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting over the present situation of the country at Pakistan Secretariat. He said Article 6 clearly states that aiders and abettors will also be charged and prosecuted in the case of high treason, which was not implemented in this particular case.
If the trial is to be initiated under Article 6 of the constitution, then it should go right from the General Ayub Khan to all, PSP chief said and added that if the trial against Musharraf is crucial, it should be initiated from 1999 as Musharaf's move was endorsed by the then Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry-led judiciary, he concluded.
