Refugee crises

Updated 20 Dec, 2019

It is quite true that world powers care more about Syria's oil than its children. No other leader is better placed to make such profound observation than Turkey's Tayyib Erdogan whose country hosts nearly 4 million Syrians, the largest refugee population worldwide. Prime minister Imran Khan, whose country has seen through biggest refugee crisis since the invasion of Afghanistan by the then Soviet Union in 1979, has also drawn the world community's attention to the possible consequences which might affect the neighbouring countries, especially Pakistan once the refugees crises started unfolding itself in the wake of illegal and unilateral steps taken by the Indian government in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K) and in the state of Assam.

It is about time the world community pooled political and financial resources to help resolve refugee crises caused by persecution, conflict, violence or human rights violations.
