Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Convener Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Friday said that language used in the detailed judgment of high treason case against former president General Pervez Musharraf (retired) raised the questions on the merit of the verdict.
Unfortunately, the wording of the verdict is "deplorable" and "disturbing", Khalid stated at a press conference.
He said that former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto called the same court "kangro courts" and added that if court started giving biased verdicts, these would cause immense damage.
He said that MQM-P respects the judiciary and expect it to review the verdict of special court.
"The verdict of special court injured the sentiments of patriotic citizens of the country," Maqbool stated.
He expressed reservations over the judgment of special court and said that people have great sensitivity about this decision. He also cautioned that wording of the judgment would giving birth to tensions between the various institutions of the country.
He said that his party believed in democracy and considered it the only way for the country to move towards development by treading on democratic path.
He also appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan to act to expose the hidden factors and designs behind the verdict against former president as he has the decisive role in court issues. About the party's strategy, Khalid announced that party would assemble the people at Liaquatbad Flyover on Sunday (tomorrow) to record its protest against the decision.
He appealed to the people from all walks of life to participate in this gathering to raise their voice for the sake of justice.
