Prime Minister Imran Khan would chair Council of Common Interests (CCI) meeting scheduled to be held today, which will be attended by chief ministers of the four provinces, alongside their respective provincial chief secretaries. As per details, under the agenda of the meeting, the CCI will approve the Alternative Energy Policy 2019 and the Petroleum Policy 2012. The provinces are expected to discuss the net profitability formula of water for the provinces and to approve the amended draft of Petroleum Policy 2012. Meanwhile, the issue of LNG import and increasing population control in the country is also on the agenda. The CCI would also discuss on the illegal transfer of funds to the provinces by the Punjab government, and the royalty to the Petroleum Ministry on LPG production. Whereas’ Sindh government’s summary on FBR's deductions deemed illegal and unconstitutional from the provinces ' funds would be also discussed in the meeting. Furthermore, a summary of the privatization of Haveli Shah Bahadur and Balloki power plants has been sent to CCI. The recommendations of the Attorney General regarding the water distribution agreement in the provinces have also been included in the agenda. The meeting will also discuss the implementation of Articles 158 and 172 of the Constitution and the amendment of the Ordinance 2002 of the Constitution with regard to the distribution of natural resources.
