PPP waging struggle to restore 'real' democracy: Nafisa

Secretary General Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Dr Nafisa Shah has said that her party is struggling to restore real democracy in the country.

She expressed these views while addressing the Christian community during a function held here on Monday. She said that the PPP tried its level best to implement the speech delivered by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the Constituent Assembly on August 11, 1947. She said that there are equal rights of every citizen in the country.

She said that the PPP always raised the voice of minorities and took practical measures to increase their allocated seats in the Senate and formation of Human Right Commission in the country. She said that people are origin of power is the basic concept of the PPP.

He said that the PPP wants to restore real democracy in the country. She said that PPP also submitted a bill in the National Assembly Secretariat to increase the seats of minorities in the Lower House of the Parliament. She said that PPP always stands with Christen community for their rights.

She said that Asif Ali Zardari voluntarily delegated his powers to the Parliament under the 18th Constitutional Amendment when he was the president of Pakistan. The PPP leader said that at present the people are in miserable condition due to price hike in the country. She said that there is need of young leadership to the country and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is playing an important role for this purpose.

Many PPP workers and members of Christian community participated in the ceremony which was held in connection with the upcoming Christmas.
