(Karachi) Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that remittances of overseas Pakistanis play a vital role in strengthening the country’s economy.
He was speaking at the inauguration of Pakistan Post’s Remittance Scheme for Overseas Pakistanis in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The PM said that the government will facilitate the overseas Pakistanis by issuing health cards to their families. He said the government is also working to introduce new schemes for overseas Pakistanis.
The prime minister said overseas Pakistanis, who would avail this opportunity, will be rewarded for sending money through legal channels.
Imran said that overseas Pakistanis work hard to earn livelihood. The government has directed the ambassadors to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis in every possible way.
He said the sole purpose of the government is to make peoples’ lives easier. He added, “Democracy is for the people.”
Imran Khan pointed out that there is a need to change the mindset of the people to bring reforms in the society.
The prime minister maintained that the government is making efforts to provide facilities in the state run hospitals.
Prime Minister Imran said his government believed in merit. He admitted that 2018 was a tough year for his government, adding that “in 2019, we stabilised our economy”.
He said Pakistan Post became a profitable institution as the government promoted merit.
Regarding police reforms, he said, “I have asked the Punjab IG to change the culture of police stations.”
