On behalf of Sharif family, an application is learnt to have been moved to the Punjab government, seeking extension in bail of the former premier Nawaz Sharif, who is, currently in London for his medical treatment.

This application has been moved to the Punjab Home Department in pursuance of decision of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), which had directed Nawaz Sharif to apply to the Punjab government for further relief under Section 401(2) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrCP), 1898. It was declared by the IHC that unless the provincial government decides the matter while taking up the application, Nawaz Sharif's bail would remain intact until it is decided otherwise by the provincial authorities.

The sources claimed that latest medical reports and recommendations of Nawaz Sharif have been attached with the application.
