Like other parts of the country and rest of the world, the Christian community in the provincial metropolis celebrated Christmas with religious zeal and fervour on Wednesday.
Special prayer ceremonies were held at churches in the city while two main ceremonies were held at Lahore Cathedral and Sacred Heart Cathedral.
The churches and Christian-majority residential areas were decorated with lights and buntings. Christmas is marked by the Christian community across the world on December 25 every year to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. The preparations for the Christmas include Christmas trees and Santa Claus.
A ceremony regarding Christmas was held at 90 SQA in which CM Punjab Usman Buzdar was guest of honour, while provincial minister MA&HR Ijaz Alam Augustine, MPAS, leaders of PTI, Christian leaders also attended the ceremony. The CM Punjab cut the cake with guests and expressed solidarity with the Christian community.
A Christmas celebration was held here at Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences where cake were cut and greetings were exchanged.
On this occasion Executive Director of PINS Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood said that 25th December is also joyful day for Christian community and we all share their happiness. He said that services of Christians in the field of medical is wonderful where doctors, nurses and paramedical staff work day and night for the betterment of ailing humanity.
On this occasion, MS Dr Ali Razzaq, AMS Dr Shahid Mahmood, Nursing Superintendent Riffat Zahid and number of employees were present.
Strict security measures were adopted to ensure foolproof security on the occasion as hundreds of police personnel were deputed at churches in the city. Walk-through gates and CCTV cameras were installed.
