Team Eighteen recorded a convincing 3-0 victory against Young Stars in the summit clash of Ibex Cup Season III, which concluded at Zaraaj Football Ground in Islamabad followed by a glittering closing ceremony.
Director General (DG) National Logistics Cell (NLC) Major-General Asim Iqbal was the chief guest during the closing ceremony of the tournament, which was organized in collaboration with Leisure Leagues, World Group and Trunkwala Family with the aim of promoting football.
A total of 32 teams from multiple cities including Gujar Khan, Peshawar, Quetta, Mansehra and Taxila competed in the tournament, which offered a prize purse of Rs100,000 for the winners.
During the final, the two competing teams and spectators observed a special minute of silence in solidarity with people of Kashmir, who are facing atrocities committed against India.
Chief Guest DG NLC Major-General Asim Iqbal thanked Leisure Leagues, World Group and Trunkwala Family for their efforts to promote football in Pakistan and he also praised ISPR for their support in making the tournament possible.
World Group Chairman Mehmood Trunkwala thanked DG NLC for supporting the Leisure Leagues initiative and said such tournaments have helped raise profile of football in the country.
The runner-up side Young Stars received Rs50,000 while third placed side Shaheen FC pocketed Rs20,000. Best goalkeeper award and best player awards were picked up by Naufil and Abdullah Shakil respectively.
