A full bench of the Lahore High Court would proceed with a petition of Gen Pervez Musharraf (retd) on January 9. His petition challenges the establishment of the special trial court for disposal of high treason case against him.

The bench comprises Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, Justice Ameer Bhatti and Justice Masood Jahangir. The petitioner argued that the trial court had not been constituted lawfully as mandatory approval from the federal cabinet had not been sought for it. It asked the court to summon summary from the law ministry regarding the constitution of the trial court. The petition urged the High Court to set aside all actions against him.
