Minhajul Quran International Director Foreign Affairs G M Malik called on Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhary Parvez Elahi here on Saturday and presented him gift of eight volumes Quranic encyclopedia of Shaikhul Islam Dr Muhammad Tahirul Qadri.

During the meeting, Punjab Assembly Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti and Director General Research Inayatullah Luk were also present. On the occasion, the speaker said that Dr Muhammad Tahirul Qadri's academic and research based services for Islamic 'Millat' are unforgettable. "He has always raised voice for elimination of extremism and terrorism," he added.

He thanked Malik for presenting the gift and prayed for health and long age of Dr Qadri. Malik told the Speaker that the Quranic encyclopedia encompasses more than 20,000 subjects. Meanwhile, a delegation headed by Committee Punjab Assembly Chairman Mian Shafi Mohammad and Awaz Foundation Pakistan chief Ziaur Rehman called on the speaker.

While talking to the delegation, Elahi said the government is striving to resolve the problems of the people on priority basis, which includes elimination of illiteracy, backwardness and poverty, and provision of health, education and other basic facilities.

He appreciated the services of Awaz Foundation Pakistan in the field of education and added that stipends for promotion of girls' education in south Punjab had also started by him during his tenure as Punjab Chief Minister.

The Speaker also approved a MoU between Punjab Assembly and Awaz Foundation Pakistan under which the provincial Assembly members will be imparted training on awareness of policy and legislation for achieving targets of education, health and durable progress.
