A petition has been filed at the Peshawar High Court as the crisis of gas load-shedding intensifies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In the petition filed by Saifullah Mohd Kakakhel Advocate, it is stated that according to the constitution, the need of the province should be fulfilled first, but despite the production of gas in the southern districts of KPK, gas is unavailable in the province and the public is forced to use gas cylinder to meet their needs. The petition further says that the elected representatives have not raised any voice against gas load shedding while the government has also failed to supply gas. The federal government, Ministry of Energy and Sui Gas have been made party in the writ. The petitioner appealed to the court to provide immediate gas to the public and has also pleaded not to send gas bills until the restoration of gas supply. Pakistan has been engulfed with gas crisis, after dripping temperatures have lead to drop in gas pressure leading to gas shortage. President North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI) Naseem Akhtar, Patron in chief Captain A Moiz Khan and SVP, Imran Moiz Khan have claimed that 80 to 90 percent industrial productivity suspended due to non availability of gas and low gas pressure in this industrial area.
