The Punjab Assembly on Monday unanimously passed University of Chakwal Bill 2019 after accepting the amendment of opposition of changing the name from University of North Punjab to University of Chakwal. The amendment was moved by PML-N MPA Waris Shad which was unanimously accepted by the House.
While responding to Waris Shad's question, Punjab Minister for Higher Education Raja Yasir Hammayun said that the government is introducing model charter bill for the universities in which all the points raised by the opposition will be addressed.
Law Minister Raja Basharat while responding to the questions regarding home department said the government is planning to recruit 20,000 people in the force to overcome the shortage of the human resource in Punjab police.He also said that there is one police official for 1200 people in Punjab. He criticized the PML-N government for not recruiting people in the force during their 10 years tenure in the province.While responding to another question of PML-N MPA Raheela Naeem regarding failure of government to control kite flying in Lahore, the minister said the government had adopted zero tolerance policy against kite flying. The police had registered 3840 cases in Lahore against violation of ban on kite flying.
While responding to the question of PML-N MPA Chaudhry Akther Ali regarding installation of safe city cameras in Lahore, Basharat said that contract was awarded to Huawei company in the tenure of PML-N government in 2014. The company is responsible for the maintenance of cameras according to the agreement. He said the government is bound to work as per agreement. However, he clarified the government will not pay to the company against the violation of the agreement.
Raja Basharat said the government had installed cameras in Kasur by spending Rs one crore as large number of cases of child abuser were registered in this district.
