A six-storey building collapsed in old city area, Ranchore Lane of Karachi on Monday. However, no causality was reported from the incident as the residents had already been shifted from the building comprising 19 flats(living quarters) due to its dilapidated condition. The building's one side had weakened due to a fire in it some time back.Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) team rushed to the scene and sealed off the building. The police, rangers and other rescue teams rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area. The people were restricted from moving through the streets surrounding the building for safety.
The SBCA had declared the building as dangerous. Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from the SBCA officials. He directed the commissioner to investigate the matter and punish those responsible in committing negligence.
