On the eve of New Year: security put on high alert in Capital

Islamabad police placed security on high alert on the eve of New Year in order to avert any untoward incident and maintain peace and tranquility in the city. The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration imposed section 144 in the city for two days on the eve of New Year to prohibit the use of motorcycles without silencers for avoiding public nuisance.

The Islamabad police have deployed 2,000 personnel in different parts of the city to ensure foolproof security and keep a vigilant eye during celebrations of New Year. Heavy deployment of police has been made at Jinnah Avenue, Super Market, Jinnah Super, Blue Area, Karachi Company, sectors F-10, F-11, G-10, G-11, Faizabad, Aabpara, Shakarparian, IJP Road, Express Highway and other shopping centers.

A senior official said that a complete ban has been imposed on one-wheeling and aerial firing and police have been directed to take every possible step for ensuring protection to the life and property of the citizens. Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have devised special traffic plan for ensuring smooth traffic flow in the city.

Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by police, murder cases during the year 2019 declined up to 13 percent as compared to the previous year while cases of kidnapping for ransom, dacoity, snatching items and burglary decreased up to 50 percent, 31 percent, 13 percent and 26 percent respectively.
