The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Gwadar collected Rs 11 billion during the first half of FY19-20. MCC Gwadar collected customs duty worth Rs 5.80 billion during the first half.
Sales tax collection stood at Rs 3.75 billion as against Rs 2.82 billion on year-on-year basis and collection of income tax remained Rs 0.43 billion. MCC Gwadar also collected Rs. 1.05 billion Balochistan Development Cess, a provincial levy collected by the Collectorate on behalf of the Balochistan Government.
On monthly basis, MCC Gwadar's customs duty collections in Dec 2019 reached Rs1.42 billion; registering considerable growth of 35 percent as against the collection of Rs 1.05 billion during the same month last year.
Similarly collection of sales tax in December, 2019 stood at Rs 1.37 billion as against the collection of Rs 1.04 billion during last year registering growth of 31 percent.
Considerable chunk of this collection was generated through liquidation of court cases; encashment of ripe securities and timely auction of confiscated/seized goods particularly Iranian Diesel seized during anti smuggling operations in the area.
MCC Gwadar contributes major share in total revenue collection in the region during the period. According to the official sources this tremendous achievement occurred owing to the teamwork under the dynamic and motivational leadership of Muhammad Yakoob Mako, Collector MCC Gwadar.
