At least 11 people were injured across Karachi due to celebratory aerial firing during the New Year celebrations.

At midnight, the port city celebrated the new year, with the sound of gunshot resounding from different parts of Karachi. Due to the firing, many were injured including women and teenagers, local media reported. The injured were shifted to different hospitals for treatment.

Firing incidents were reported from Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Defence, Gulberg, Buffer Zone areas and other areas. The police has also arrestes one person violating the law.

On Monday, the Government of Sindh under Section 144 (6) Cr.PC, imposed a complete ban on carrying or display of arms, aerial firing, fire crackers and pillion riding from December 31, till the morning of January 01.
