Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Friday showed concern over the appointment of advisor in Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KW&SB) and termed it unconstitutional, illegal and in violation of Civil Servant act.
MQM-P's Parliamentary Leader in Sindh Assembly Khawja Izharul Hassan and members of provincial assembly in a statement said that appointment of advisor in KW&SB raised the questions over the capabilities of Managing Director (MD) and officials of water board.
"It reflects that officials deputed for distribution of water, resolution of sewerage issues and revival of infrastructure are not capable to perform their responsibilities," MQM-P legislators opined.
They said that appointment of advisor also exposed local government department to resolve the issues of Karachi.
Party's legislators said that appointment of advisor would further burden the provincial exchequer at a time when officials are drawing hundreds of thousands but unable to provide the water to the citizens of metropolis.
They said that local government minister is not paying attention to the suggestions of elected UCs Chairmen, districts Chairmen, MPAs and MNAs to improve the working of water board.
