The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) on Thursday organized a one-day conference on data and privacy protection procedures at the Integrated Command, Control and Communication Centre (PPIC).
Chairman Judicial Commission for Environment Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi (R), Prof Amirullah Khan Niazi from PU, DIG-IT Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, Former Chairman Punjab Bar Rai Bashir, Former Secretary Pakistan Bar Asad Manzoor Butt, Advocate Supreme Court Shahid Ahmed Paracha, Advocate Supreme Court Imtiaz Ahmed Kamboh, Sargodha University's Professor Saqib Ahmed, former Additional Advocate General Punjab Ahmed Rauf, former Assistant Advocate General Punjab Adnan Tariq and Assistant Advocate General Punjab Zafar Ahmed Sukhera participated in the privacy conference.
Managing Director Malik Ali Amir briefed the participants about the PSCA's privacy policy in detail along with COO Akbar Nasir. The MD claimed that Police Communication Officers (PCOs) in PSCA have limited and controlled access to data.
He said that all the CCTV cameras installed in the city monitor only public places. "Due to specific angles of the cameras, nobody can monitor private/residential areas or private gatherings. All the PSCA officials are under constant supervision of the senior police officers. Sensitive cases are supervised directly by the senior officers," he added.
The COO said the authority guides the field force in matters related to prevention of crimes and effective emergency response. Expressing views on the occasion, Ali Akbar Qureshi said that the authority's steps to secure data were satisfactory.
