Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim, who was widely known as 'Fakhru bhai', has died. Fakhru bhai was also widely known for his integrity and his deep commitment to the ideals of justice and human rights. A lawyer by profession, he started his career under the guidance of Husein Shaheed Suharwardi. He later became the attorney general for Pakistan and a judge of higher courts of Pakistan.
Born on February 12, 1928, in the state of Gujarat, India, Ebrahim earned a name for himself when he refused to accept a Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) issued by the then military dictator Gen Ziaul Haq in early 1980s and resigned as a judge.
Fakhru bhai, would always be remembered for his fearless approach to dispensation of justice and life-long support to the oppressed or weaker segments of society.
