The Lahore administration on Saturday carried out a crackdown against profiteers and penalized 58 shop/vendor owners for charging beyond the rates set by the price control committee.
While talking to media, District Commissioner Lahore Danish Afzal said senior officials with their teams visited 216 points in various parts of the city to inspect the prices of essential items. "During the inspection, fines worth Rs118,000 were imposed on the violators. Moreover, 17 culprits were taken into custody and FIR were registered against them," he added. He directed his teams to continue with the crackdown and show no leniency.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG) Safdar Hussian Virk chaired a meeting of the price control which was attended by the price control magistrates. On the occasion, the ADCG was briefed about the progress made and exchanged views on important matters. Virk directed the officials to continue with the crackdown against the profiteers and added that no leniency will be shown to these people. "The magistrates should ensure implementation of DC price rates," he added.
