FPCCI urged to play its role for setting up 'Sargodha Dry Port'

President FPCCI Mian Anjum Nisar has said that business community should take benefit from Bhalwal Industrial Estate for setting up new industries which is vital for the country economy.

He was talking to the members of Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry called upon him at Regional Office Lahore to congratulate him in a milestone victory of the recent elections of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

They urged the President FPCCI to persuade the government for the establishment of Sargodha Dry Port which is necessary to boost kinnow exports from Sargodha a hub of citrus producing area. At present Sargodha shares around $200 million every year in national exchequer on the account of kinnow export and the potential is $500 million in next few years.

Similarly they said we need due coordination from FPCCI in order to solve the issues of the local traders from FBR. "Markets of Sargodha faced unavoidable issues from the tax authorities which is unfair including some relief from local cottage industry.

They further urged that Sargodha Chamber is one of the old chambers in Punjab but still the chamber is lacking with its permanent building. In this regard we also need due assistance from FPCCI for the serious negotiations with the government of Punjab and the Export Development Fund (EDF) of the Ministry of Commerce to provide due funds, so that the process of building construction may be initiated timely. He said Federation will provide full Corporation and assistance for the issues of Sargodha Chamber members including on the establishment of dry port. "Wherever my presence would be required I will accompany you", he added. The SCCI delegation comprises former President Zahid Saeed, Arshad Piracha, Ch Ahmad Jawad (SG-F) of BMP, Sheikh Farooq Vohra, Liaqat Warriach, Zeeshan Khalique and others senior officials also accompanied.
