Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Saturday visited Doha and called on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
The FM reaffirmed the importance Pakistan attached to its close fraternal ties with Qatar and reiterated the resolve to further strengthen the historic, multifaceted relationship between the two countries.
The two foreign ministers exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East. While calling for maximum restraint, they supported efforts for defusing tensions through dialogue and promoting a diplomatic way forward.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Quershi informed his Qatari counterpart about Pakistan's efforts in this regard and his recent visits to regional capitals and the United States.
The Foreign Minister appreciated Qatar's support for Afghan peace process and expressed the hope that the latest positive development would pave the way for the awaited peace agreement. The Qatari Deputy PM and minister of foreign affairs appreciated the visit of the foreign minister to Qatar. He concurred with Pakistan's stance that the US-Iran standoff needs to be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.-PR
