Gold prices on Monday were closed at Rs89800 per tola, up by Rs300 on the local market, traders said. The precious metal was selling for Rs76990 per 10 grams, up by 258 and US$1560 an ounce up by US$3. Silver was traded for Rs1030 per tola, Rs883 per 10 grams and US$18.05 an ounce, they added.
The country imported gold less by 5 percent or US$376,000 to US$7.443 million in July-Nov 2019 from US$7.819 million in July-Nov 2018, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics shows.
In term of quantity, the country's gold import stood at 183 kilograms in July-Nov 2019 comparing to its import of 200 kilograms in July-Nov 2018, depicting a fall of 9 percent or 17 kilograms.
In Nov 2019, gold import was US$1.796 million up by 2 percent or US$31000 from US$1.765 million in Nov 2018.
Import volume of gold declined to 43 kilograms in Nov 2019 from 45kg in Nov 2018, indicating a fall of 4.44 percent or 2 kilograms.
