Pakistan Institute of Management (PIM) has launched Pakistan Management Excellence Award (PMEA) aimed to elevate organizational performance and excellence in Pakistan and enhancing international competitiveness, investments, image, exports and economic indicators. The launch ceremony was held at PIM Auditorium and was attended by business leaders and others.
Addressing the ceremony, former President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPPCI) Zakriya Usman said that academia and industry should join hands to gain business competitiveness in international market.
"Professional trainings always play pivotal role in industrial growth," he said, stressing the need for improving research work in the country's educational institutes. "We need to end discrimination in our educational system," he said.
PMEA Governing Body Chairman Aamer Niazi welcoming the launch attendees said, "PMEA will provide an international benchmark to organizations in all verticals, both in public and private sectors."
Zillay Nawab, PMEA Director elaborated saying that "PMEA is open to all organizations in Pakistan. It is not just about winning the award, it is about continuous improvement. Excellence has no finishing line; it is the journey itself which delivers benefits."
He said PMEA is an initiative of Pakistan Institute of Management (PIM) working under the administrative control of the Ministry of Industries & Production, Government of Pakistan. Instituted under the patronage of the President of Pakistan, PMEA program will provide an international benchmark to organizations in all verticals, both public and private.
He said PMEA is structured around the business excellence models, ISO standards and international best practices and will provide a national benchmark, which will facilitate organizational excellence via incremental improvement focused on people, customer excellence and innovation.
