The Institute of Financial Markets of Pakistan (IFMP) organised a workshop on Anti-Money Laundering/ Combating Terrorist Financing on Thursday, 23 January 2020, at a local hotel in Karachi. The workshop was conducted by Sumera Baloch - Additional Director/ Head of Analysis Division - Financial Monitoring Unit, Govt. of Pakistan, while Aamir Qureshi - Additional Joint Director Specialized Companies Division, SECP graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor.
This insightful workshop was organized to spread awareness against the emerging methodologies and techniques being adopted for money laundering and terrorism financing and what should be the process in place for financial services institutions to prevent them.
"It is more than ever necessary for companies to be more vigilant towards potential terrorist financing and money laundering risks and play their due role in fighting against TF and ML threats under SECP and SBP guidelines." said Aamir Qureshi while emphasizing the importance of this workshop and also lauded IFMP's efforts in organizing the event.
Highlighting the importance of this workshop, Sumera Baloch expressed her views that "The Regulators of the Financial Sector have devised a robust AML/ CFT Framework, while the Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU) has put in place stringent reporting requirements of Currency Transaction Reports and Suspicious Transaction Reports to deter Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing.-PR
