Prime Minister's Advisor on Climate Change, Malik Amin Aslam on Friday said that electric vehicle (EV) Policy would help transform Pakistan's transport sector in coming years and urban outlook with introduction of better, sustainable, affordable and environmental-friendly transport facilities.
He also said that the overarching electric vehicle policy, which was approved by Prime Minister Imran Khan last year on November 5, will also significantly help boost pollution-free transport facilities in the country in a way that are not damaging to environment and do not emit any smoke and cause noise pollution.
Aslam said there were four main benefits of the EV policy as EVs would run on 70 percent less costs compared to its fuel-based counterpart.
Addressing a high-level launching ceremony of the country's first fully three-wheeler electric vehicles here, he said, "Introduction of electric vehicles in Pakistan following the EV policy, which was framed after consultation with all relevant stakeholders from government and non-governmental sectors, are going to be a big step for the people to switch from fuelling at the pump to fuelling at an outlet."
The day-long event 'Showcasing Pakistan's first fully-electric three-wheel vehicle was organized by the Ministry of Climate Change in collaboration with the Board of Investment and Sazgar Engineering Works Limited.
It aimed to demonstrate the fully electric three-wheeler vehicle and raise public awareness about the socio-economic and environmental benefits among general public in the country.-PR
