Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P), an ally of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)'s federal government, Friday showed concern over the increasing corruption in Pakistan as reported by Transparency International. Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Convener MQM-P in a statement said that corruption has deeply penetrated the country, which should be checked, otherwise future generations would never forgive us.
He believed that corruption is social evil, however, it has penetrated so deeply that it has endangered the solidarity and survival of the country. He called upon media, civil society, political parties and people from all walks of life to play their role to eliminate this social evil of corruption from the country.
He particularly mentioned about political parties and the ruling elite that uses the powers and resources and said that these should be purged of the corruption.
Siddiqui said that a just and free system is the need of the hour for eradicating the corruption and added that the accountability process should continue on permanent basis. He also suggested to hire the services of experts in investigation agencies to create a formidable front against white collar crimes.
