Employers Federation of Pakistan has said that it is inundated by complaints from members regarding unauthorized visits being undertaken by a Commissioner appointed by Sindh High Court and who is "overstepping" the mandate vested by the Sindh High Court.
"The Commissioner who is 2nd Senior Civil Judge of Shikarpur has been mandated to visit hospitals, dispensaries and offices of SESSI and Workers Welfare Board to check their reports. However, he has been taking officials from Sindh Labor Department along with labor union office bearers and visiting factories and industries.
"The Labour Department has made a schedule of factory visits and the Commissioner has been visiting these factories along with police escort and others. The officials and union office bearers have been harassing, threatening and blackmailing the industrialists.
"As Apex Body of employers, Employers Federation of Pakistan strongly protests the inspections beyond mandate and, therefore, has written to the Commissioner to restrict such visits only to the assigned institutions as mandated to him by the Honorable High Court.
"These activities are resulting in anguish and pain and that it is affecting the working of industries in Interior Sindh as well as in urban areas. "EFP also requests the Hon'ble Chief Justice of Sindh High Court to kindly take cognizance of this overstepping of the mandate and issue directives to the Commissioner to just visit SESSI and Workers Welfare Board premises."-PR
