Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Stefano Pontecorvo has said that Pakistan's sacrifices in the war against terrorism and efforts in restoration of peace are highly commendable.
He expressed these views during a farewell meeting with Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar here on Monday. The Ambassador further said that relations between Italy and Pakistan are getting stronger with every passing day.
During the meeting, the Punjab Governor appreciated the services rendered by Stefano Pontecorvo as Ambassador to Pakistan and also congratulated him on his appointment as Senior Representative of NATO in Afghanistan.
Talking on this occasion, he said that in the war against terrorism, Pakistan has rendered such sacrifices, which have no precedence in the world. "Despite war hysteria of India, Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan is advocating for peace. Pakistan is also playing an active role in harnessing peace in Afghanistan; we want peace in the entire region but for this to happen settlement of the Kashmir issue as per the UN resolutions is essential and Narendra Modi government must stop aggression against the Muslims of India," he added. He said that the world community should play its role to settle the Kashmir issue and take strict notice of the Indian government's atrocities against the Indian Muslims.
