All mafias have been eliminated from the custom department on the specific identification of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) resulting in minimizing cases of alleged harassment of business community and traders.
These views were expressed by Muhammad Saleem collective, preventive Model Customs Collectorate Multan. He was having a meeting with Rana Sikandar-e-Azam President FCCI. During this meeting Ghulam Nabi Kambo additional collector custom Anti-smuggling Faisalabad was also present along with Deputy Collectors Muhammad Imaan Ullah Leghari and Jilal Zaidi.
He underlined the role of customs department in overall national development and told that it was trying its optimum best to facilitate the patriotic and law a biding business community so that it could contribute its positive and productive role in the overall national economy in a big way. However, at the same time "Jihad" against smuggling is continuing at a steady pace and in this connection many big smuggled consignment have also been detected. He appreciated the role of FCCI in discouraging the menace of smuggling and assured that no custom official will be allowed to harass any businessmen without any cogent reason. He requested president FCCI to pin point any black sheep in customs department so that immediate action could be taken against them.
Ghulam Nabi Kambo additional collector Anti-smuggling told that the points highlighted during his previous visit to FCCI have been resolved and now we are working in complete unison with FCCI. He vowed that customs department is fully prepared to discharge its national obligations and the smuggling will not be tolerated at any cost.
Earlier, Rana Sikandar-e-Azam told that FCCI will continue to cooperate with customs and other Government departments for the complete eradication of smuggling. He told that FCCI has always supported Government for the greater cause of economy and in this connection this elected platform of business community would never support smuggling and other ill practices. However, he clarified that FCCI is bound to protect the legitimate interests of its members. He demanded that in derive against smuggling; the honest importers and exporters should not be harassed. He said that business community is fully cognizant of its responsibilities and working to drag out Pakistan from the quagmire of loans. He assured that the cordial relationship between FCCI and customs will continue on the same pace.
