Debutant Mohammad Huraira struck classy 64 with the help of eight boundaries and a maximum to see Pakistan through to the semis on Friday at Benoni.
Afghanistan were never looked in that game since the beginning. They were bowled out for 189 in 49.1 overs. Skipper Farhan Zakhil (40) made the only noticeable contribution for the Afghan side while Abdul Rahman played a little cameo of 30 in the lower order.
Mohammad Amir Khan was the pick of Pakistan bowling attack as he claimed three wickets for 58 runs. Fahad Munir bagged two wickets as well.
Chasing 189, Pakistan went off to a confident start thanks to Haider Ali and Huraira. Ali was unlucky as he was run out on 28.
Skipper Rohail Nazir contributed with 22 runs before being sent back to the pavilion by Noor Ahmed. Pakistan chased down the target with 53 balls to spare. Qasim Akram and Mohammad Haris remained unbeaten in the chase. They scored 25 and 29 respectively.
Pakistan will now face India on February 4 in the semifinal.
