The Accountability Court hearing the multibillion rupees fake bank accounts case on Thursday directed National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to file a supplementary reference in illegal allotment of welfare plot case till February 24. NAB prosecutor Sohail Arif requested Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir to grant them more time for filling of supplementary reference which the court approved.
Meanwhile, two accused including Matanat Ali Khan, former metropolitan commissioner KMC and Muhammad Hussain Syed, former administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), filed acquittal application before the court in wake of NAB amendment ordinance 2019. The court issued notice to NAB with the request to acquittal application.
The bureau has nominated 8 accused in the interim reference including Abdul Ghani, an official of Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Matanat Ali Khan, former metropolitan commissioner KMC, Samiuddin Siddiqui, former metropolitan commissioner KMC, Najamuz Zaman, former director Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Wing KMC, Syed Khalid Zafar Hashmi, additional director KDA Wing KMC, Syed Jamil Ahmed, assistant director KDA Wing KMC, Abdul Rasheed, assistant director KDA Wing KMC, Muhammad Hussain Syed, former administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), and Younus Kidwai, director M/s Programme, appeared before the court.
According to NAB, the accused persons by misusing their authority allegedly allotted the government land at Nehr-e-Khayyam Karachi to the M/S Friends Associates which incurred a loss of Rs3 billion to the national exchequer. The accused used fake account for payment of plots.
